Poems on life

4O’ clock in the morning

It is early; and I am up,

There is silence in the house.

Sleep lies heavily on my kids,

An ally in motherhood.

Rain falls softly,

like a reassuring heartbeat;

The air conditioner hums,

another reassurance.

Cold outside, cold inside;

Thank God,

There is no cold in my mind.

Warmth flows in and around me,

May it always be so.
